INTRODUCING..........

RAPIDCAST AND RAPIDLITE CASTABLES

RAPID FACTS
The Rapid System generates an exothermic reaction which allows the refractory to set very quickly at ambient temperatures.  Castings can generally be stripped within 1 1/2 to 2 hours of  placement.
Accelerated Bakeout.  Once the exothermic reaction is completed, when the castable is cool to the touch, generally 3 to 4 hours, external heat may be applied.    Initial bakeout can be at an accelerated rate of 200° F per hour with a hold at 650° F.  After the hold period, the temperature may  be increased at 200° F per hour to operating temperature.

Outstanding adhesion to other materials.  The Rapid System will bond extremely well to other materials, making it an excellent choice for patching a wide variety of existing refractory surfaces, including flooring applications.

Resistance to molten aluminum and thermal shock.  Like other Redline materials, Rapidcast and Rapidlite are designed to have high resistance to molten aluminum and thermal shock.  A variety of formulations are available to suit most aluminum processing applications.

Available Rapidcast and Rapidlite Formulations
  • Rapidcast AL - a high purity mullite formulation designed for aluminum contact applications such as furnace walls, troughs, ladles, and degas boxes.
  • Rapidcast AL Fine - a fine grained version which would be more applicable to thin cross sections.  Also can be used as a patching mix for various applications.
  • Rapidcast FS-A -  a fused silica formulation which is highly resistant to thermal shock.  An excellent choice for filter boxes and troughs.
  • Rapidcast FS-A Fine - a fine grained version which would be more applicable to thin cross sections.  Can also be used as a patching mix for various applications.
  • Rapidlite FS-A - a lightweight, fused silica castable (82#/ft3) which can be used for casting table parts and moderate flow troughing.  Fast turnaround reduces the need for multiple molds for intricate shapes.
  • RapidFloor - designed specifically for problem flooring areas which must be put back into service quickly.  Can sustain fork truck traffic within 3 to 4 hours of placement.
  • Rapid Floor Patch - a fine grained version designed for thin applications to existing flooring.  Material will bond extremely well to most surfaces, including brick and concrete, and can be featheredged for repair of dished areas.
  • Other formulations will become available as the need arises.
